If you haven’t signed this petition yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
The issue here is not just that repertory theaters (like the New Beverly in LA and the Castro in SF) will be forced to convert to digital projections and present all their films in digital instead of 35mm, but also once you start leaving 35mm behind “lesser” films will be left behind and may become lost. Who’s to say what films are “worth” saving? If you don’t help now, the possibility of losing some great “lesser” films from the 30s thru the 70s (and possibly even the 80s and 90s) will become very real and that thought breaks my heart.
This petition only has 6,700 signatures right now. I have over 17,000 followers. Y’all know what to do.
just a friendly reminder that it doesn’t take you very much time to sign this petition and it could mean a great deal to the future of film history and preservation.
